House in the Gorge

Designed for a secluded hillside, with views of Mount Hood and the Columbia River Gorge, the House in the Gorge nestles into the natural topography of its site. Board form concrete walls work with the existing topography to ground the house, allowing for the main living spaces to delicately perch among the trees. The design incorporates floor-to-ceiling casework, walls of glass oriented toward mountain views, and a two-story, canted concrete water feature at the core of the house. A neutral color palette throughout the house reflects the subtlety and serenity of the surrounding landscape.
