Mt. Tabor

An A-to-Z makeover of an inspiring but under-performing Mid-Century house. The house had flat ceilings throughout at just under 8 feet tall. The living room was wide and low with heavy drapes blocking the 180-degree view. And yet, from the street and front yard, the roofline juts up toward the sky on one of Portland’s most coveted viewpoints. The home was begging for a vaulted ceiling with floor-to-ceiling windows to capture that view and do justice to the original architecture. We kept the original, double-sided fireplace and the amazing roof line and opened the house to the front and back yard and most importantly, the view. The interior was reconfigured with a modern, family-friendly kitchen and adjacent family room, and bedrooms and bathrooms were upgraded to complete the overhaul.
